I envy the creative minds behind the gorgeous art at Epilogue.
Here's a really cute use for those old jeans you've got lying around. Ya know, the ones that don't fit anymore? Or the ones that got mangled in the washing machine (our washer eats denim, num num) or that you loved so dearly they look like swiss cheese...
Amazon now has a feature allowing one to search for a book by any set of words within the text. Imagine the data entry staff this endeavor required!

Mr. Little Guy. I think this is so wonderful. I might have to go wander Lake Harriet sometime and leave a note.

A friend of mine got a little write up in USA Today about his participation in a Flash Mob.

I love this post blaming the recent East coast "power outtage" on a flash mob.

This trend is seems to be storming the country. It's fascinating and I love it! Someone email me directions for the next one. :o)

Astrojax look neat. They also look simple enough for even my bumbling hands to control.

I know I've known someone that owned a set of these at one point or another, but I don't think I've ever seen them in action. Anyone have any experience with them?

Here we are getting settled into the new place and we finally have high-speed internet at our fingertips again. Incredibly, I didn't miss it all that much, other than when I'd be in conversation with someone, we'd have a question about something and say "check the internet." It's not that simple with dial-up and one phone line. Especially dial-up that takes anywhere from two to ten minutes to actually connect properly.

We've been busy, of course, trying to deal with situations like this:

and playing a little bit of this:

and ending up like this:

and this:

Yup, Squirt is back in our midst! He's making us all a little sniffly, but he's such a joy to have pouncing around. He seems to be settling in okay, as well, and has already attempted a 5am attempt at cooking. We woke up to a small crash and Matt went up the stairs to find the spice rack and all of its contents tumbled across the counter.

So anyway, back to some form of normalness, if it's possible in our lives. ;o)

This page represents my life. At the moment my life is very boring and predictable. There isn't much to see, but there is quite a bit of non-coherent reading material inside. It needs a revamping. This will come. Soon, I hope. For now, there is packing up and cleaning to be done.

Received in an email forward today:

"To: Dept. of Homeland Security

Dear Sirs:

I am writing to you for further instructions to what the next step is for me to take in protecting my family from possible attacks by terrorists. I have my duck taped, now what?"

The Friday Five

1. What was your most memorable moment from the last week?
Uno Pizzeria with the gang last Saturday. Good time, good food, awesome weather outside.

2. What one person touched your life this week?
Matt made my day on more than one occassion solidifying my faith in our love.

3. How have you helped someone this week?
It's little, but I held the door for a girl at work who is hobbling around on crutches for several weeks. She smiled in return, which is the very best thank you.

4. What one thing do you need to get done by this time next week?
Get started sorting/packing the mess of a bedroom and getting rid of some stuff I don't use anymore.

5. What one thing will you do over the next seven days to make your world a better place?
I will work on my patience and share good vibes instead of so much negativity.
This is what Friday evenings do to crazed lunatic geeks.

Someone finally created a database site to store the information and create the html code to share lists of cds, dvds, etc. at "I Own These." Well, I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

Yeah, it's been a quiet week. Two Friday Fives in a row. The Friday Five:

1. Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not?
It depends who I'm talking to. Most of the time, sure, although I often get antsy.

2. Who is the last person you talked to on the phone?
Matt

3. About how many telephones do you have at home?
Three, plus three people's cell phones

4. Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened?
Several people at my work have horrible phone manners, although I think it's often just frustration with the people they are talking to. I do my best not to pay attention to it because I wanna correct them.

5. Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not?
I generally prefer email/letters because it gives me more time to think out what I'm going to say, and especially to go back and change things I'm not happy with. Sometimes I wish we had this option in face-to-face conversation.

Woh. Google is buying Pyra, the company that produced Blogger, one of the first and better (imho) blogging sites. Blogs are definitely here to stay... at least for a while.

There are two proposed designs still in the running for the replacement World Trade Center complex; numbers 1 and 4. It's amazing to me that it's already been a year and a half since the tragedy and that there will be a completely new structure in the works there quite soon.

Sweet! E-filing both federal and state taxes is finally completely free for those of us that make less than $27,000 a year. It appears to be completely paperless as well, if you have a little bit of info from last year's 1040.
Kottke's example of stereo photography. Neat stuff if you can get it to work for you! I found it easier to use the thumbnails than the full size shots.

Note to self - more movies to see:

"Chicago"
"I Spy"
"The Basketball Diaries"
"Rat Race"
"About Schmidt"
"How to Lose a Man in Ten Days" (not so much for the plot, but for a very hot actor and actress ;o)

We appear to be hitting that mid-winter slump of lame movies in the theatres again. "Gangs of New York" was awesome. LOTR, well yeah.... "Catch Me if You Can" was also very cute, but now what?

Update: I put up a handful of pictures in the gallery from an outing to the Science Museum last weekend.

Penny Arcade never fails to amuse. At least for those of us that are geeky enough to have witnessed a LAN party or two... or face possible eviction due to one. :P
